    Tire Size

Would there be an appreciable benefit to selecting a tire width that would be the next larger size over stock? What if stock 17 x 7 tires were changed to 17 x 7 1/2 ? Would the larger size effect gearing ? Would it be necessary to change the stock wheel size to something wider ? As always, any information is appreciated.

    Many thanks......

You would want to match your tire width with your wheel width.

A wider tire will offer more traction over the same tire. No the larger width wouldn't effect gearing. Gearing is only affected when you go with a larger diamater tire.
