Lift engine to replace spark plugs?

Has anyone else looked at the General Info section of the service manual. I read for the BRZ & under "Periodic Maintenance Services" it goes through 16 pages describing what to do in order to replace your spark plugs...including lifting the engine. Really??

I've seen that on a few other boxer engined cars. Thankfully its not needed often!
