Suabru BRZ Revealed as Name of Subie's Toyota FT-86

Subaru has announced its name for the joint sports car project developed with Toyota, dubbing the rear-drive coupe the BRZ.

The news comes in a release by the Japanese automaker, announcing it will show a second rendition of the Boxer Sports Car Architecture, cumbersomely named: Subaru BRZ Prologue – Boxer Sports Car Architecture II.

The BRZ name stands for “Boxer engine”, “Rear-wheel drive” and “Zenith”. Subaru has also created a teaser webpage for the car which can be viewed here.

No weirder than a wrx I guess, I drive a warkx. It doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the subaru line though. It's almost like they just wanted to copy the fr-s naming style a little.

BRZ sounds good to me. Sure beats calling it the "Subaru 216A"
I was reading online that the "BRZ" in Subaru BRZ is pronounced as "Breeze" rather than "B-R-Z"

The name isn't all that bad once you get used to it.. I mean theirs already WRX like someone said and STi and back in the day they used to have the SVX so it's not like the first Subaru to use initials for the name of one of their cars
