Scion FR-S Crashes the Party at Pebble Beach

A Scion is about the last car you’d expect to see at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, but the FR-S concept has a design worthy of a six-, or even a seven-figure price tag.

Set to be unveiled as a Toyota model at the Tokyo Auto Show later this year, the production FR-S is then expected to be revealed at the NY Auto Show in 2012. Toyota has continued to be nearly silent on details, but what we do know is that this light-weight coupe will be powered by a Subaru-sourced boxer 4-cylinder engine, using a Toyota direct-injection system. Power will be delivered though the rear wheels using either a six-speed auto or manual (your choice) and a limited slip differential will be standard.

The photos are awesome. Wish I could see the concept in person.

This is already a good sign of how well the Scion FR-S production models will do. Event organizers are really picky about things, an for the FR-S to be design worthy of a 6-7 figure price tag says a lot.

I know the Scion FR-S design will be a timeless one.

Apparently that's a pretty prestigious event. Scion wouldn't be there showing off something that isn't coming, so I'm quite positive that this is around 85% production.

Still very curious to see what they do with the interior though.

I would hope so. They are showing it as a concept though. I am also very interested to see what Scion is going to do with the interior. Hopefully they don't cheap out. Wasn't too big of a fan of the TC interior. It's not bad but not that great.

I hope the don't take the interior from any of their current cars as they arnt exactly the best looking or best feeling interiors in the world. Infect they all feel very cheap and plastic like

Scion interiors arent that great at all. As much as I'd like to have the Fr-S interior really nice. Realistically. At the price point and the brand image of scion. I dont think we'll get a very nice interior.

You might be right, since the FR-S is being built for tuners/enthusiasts and racing in mind they might just cheap out on the interior.

I really don't care what the Scion FR-S interior is like. The FR-S exterior design & performance alone are enough to make me want one.
