Toyota GT 86 by Gazoo Racing on Display: 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon

Before the Toyota GT 86 was even officially revealed, the new sports car was out on the track competing. This particular car, on display for the first time at the Tokyo Auto Salon, was raced at the grueling Nurburgring 24 Hour Race in the Fall.

A mildly modified version of the factory car, it sports the obvious race goodies like a roll cage, while other upgrades include some lighter wheels with stickier tires, some tiny carbon fiber mirrors and an aero kit complete with a big rear spoiler something we'd really like Toyota to offer as a factory or dealer option.

looking at the rest of the pictures on the autoguide page, i still cant decide if i like this aero package better than the TRD version. hard to tell when it has camo and no real paint.

It sure looks like that but on the specific car were seeing it on, i bet it served a real purpose. I don't mind seeing wings/spoilers like that on a car as long as it serves a real purpose, what it was built for.

I hate how people have huge performance spoilers and dont go anywhere near a race track. Fail!

Looks like an old STI wing to me. At 200HP what could this wing possibly do? I mean, you can't defy physics when your car only has enough power to go so fast. What is the top speed for this car? This car is going to get embarrassed on a track. It may handle well, but it sure as hell is not going to be fast.

So true. It's all for looks at this stage to complete the performance car look. If it was that necessary Honda Civic Si's would need bigger spoilers lol yet they dont have them.
