Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy

You can sound polite and say "inexpensive" but if you're strapped for cash, the most important question when shopping for a new car is: what's the cheapest car on the market? AutoGuide has got the answer, along with the nine runners up.

Arguably the most fun to drive car on the list, the Mazda 2 manages to do so with the least amount of horsepower. A 1.5-liter 4-cylinder makes an even 100-hp although with a 4-speed automatic fuel economy isn't as good as it should be at 28/34-mpg. (28/35-mpg with the standard transmission).

Priced at $14,180 it looks good outside and in and is the brand's first model to come with a brake-override system. What it doesn't have is a great deal of cargo room with 13.3 cu-ft in the rear hatch area, with a total of 27.6 cu-ft with the rear seats folded flat.

I wouldn't buy any of those cheap cars, maybe the Matrix but I don't want some econobox I want a RWD car! Just can't wait for the FR-S to be out.

the Nissan Versa is really cheap but i would be scared behind the wheel of a car I paid $10k for brand new, for all I now that car could fall apart lol

Cool auto news. But where is the Scion in this? Where did they even say the word "Scion" in this? What is it doing in the FR-S News Thread?

It's called "car talk". Most members of this forum are car enthusiasts and occasionally a member will post something that he/she thinks might be of interest to "most" members.

well said, a lot of us enthusiasts take interest in other cars too!

i actually want to get the FR-S and another newer car just as a beater and CHEAP, so a list like this is what someone like myself would be interested in.

I'm still bothered that I'm reading about our top 10 cheapest cars in a forum about the Ft-86 under a thread titled Scion FR-S News. But I guess I'm just a little upset because I was in a rush to find some information on the 86 and I wasted a little time because this is out of place.

I know what you mean, it's a bit out of place. If it was about the Top 10 Cheapest Sport Coupes for 2012, that would be much better. I guess they thought it would be suitable for this forum lol

For $10k you cant go wrong. But I just can't imagine driving that. Having a new car that is basic as possible would be a car I get bored of easily. But I guess they made these cars for those that don't care for much and just want an A-B car

Personally I rather spend the extra money and get a car with enough creature comforts.
