2011 Scion TC daily 2012 Scion FR-S weekend toy?

since the fr-s is still several months from being sold i was toying with the idea of picking up a 2011 scion tc as a new daily driver while i wait for the fr-s and just pick up the fr-s when it comes out as a weekend toy.

I really think having a Scion xB as a daily driver would be a better option & FR-S as the weekend toy. Used xB's are getting cheap + they have nice room inside for long road trips.

Can't imagine having 2 small cars as my only cars.

I will most likely sell/trade in my scion tc for the fr-s, unless the money I'll get in return are not worth it, in which case I'll keep the tc in the fam. The scion has served me well as training wheels and now has over 100k miles. I'm ready for an upgrade. Fr-s, here I come!

How has your TC been Mari0? Any major problems while owning it or is it your typical reliable Toyota vehicle?

Never had a single major issue.

As long as you maintain your car, change the oil, etc. you should have no problems. We have 2 scion tcs at 150k+ and 100k (mine) and a rav4 with 120ish. No complains what so ever. Unlike my friends that spend their money on repairs, I used mine to add visual mods to the car.

Note: talking about the first generation of tCs in my post. I have no idea about the new ones, but it's safe to assume that they are ok.

that good, to hear those TC's are sill holding up but i guess i would use an XB as having a 2 door coupe to move stuff is extremely useless...

In all honesty I don't think the FR-S is going to be high end enough to be a "weekend toy" rather just a small upgrade from a tC so might as well just trade in the tC for the FR-S and use the FR-S as the daily driver heh

I am thinking of buying a TC for the wife, but all my friends are telling me to go for the FR-S. Now the problem I have is that the TC will be my wife's car not mine, as I already have a 1994 Lexus SC400 as my daily and I have a 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo as my summer car. So my question in the end would be which car will be better for my wife? The only say in getting the car is that is has to be black as both my cars are black.

    Thanks

Depends on what her needs are, and also what kind of driver she is?

I think you should wait for the Scion FR-S release date and have her test drive one then, or keep an eye out for info on Scion FR-S test drives.
No question, I'd go with a FR-S, I think it just looks better!

I'm doing one of three things...
1 - Keeping my 06 tC as it sits, stanced and all as a daily and getting an FR-S
2 - Trading the 06 tC on an FJ then modding it and an FR-S
3 - Trading the tC for the FR-S and mod it as a mild street car.

My '51 Chevy 1/2 Ton rustrod lets me haul shit.

I say trade the TC. Go all out on the FR-S. TC's are nice but I see way too many of them on the road....riced out and few tastefully done with performance mods.

depends what your wife wants personally just let her trest drive the car and see what she likes to be honest.

I would go for the FR-S it seems to be one hell of a way better car, but go for whatever floats her boat
