personally, i want the minimum 200hp and at least high 100's tq, 6 speed, 2+2 and good gas mileage. visually i like it as it is. however my biggest request is that it stay around 2800lbs or less if possible. they may be alot to ask but i want this car to be light, like the last GT-S celica was. its a lot easier to make hp then to lighten a car in most cases.

Keep the styling al slose to the current show room specs ( i know yall have to meet safety car standards ect......)

Comforatable seats, something someone can sit in for more than a couple hours without getting uncomforatable......
Digital tach optional at least........
Nice sound system, whether or not we choose to cream ourselves over the engine sound its always nice to have good sounding music to go with mountain pass touring, and to tune out ricers.... lol

PREFORMANCE

Keep it light
Keep the weight low
If possible a turbo/supercharger option
TRD goodies
If possible (as ive been hearing) more torque than horsepower, i trust in yall to have over 180 HP from this engine....
IRS (Independent Rear Suspension)um you dont have a choice on this one ..... lol
Something under 2750 LBS..... saftey standards and their heavy airbags.....
Make the suspension stiff but forgiving, i have a corolla 05 and its stiff through corners for what it is.... lol, but it sucks up speed bumps and potholes like a champ


im just trying to be realistic, a lot of us will have this as a dedicated track car, but it still needs to be a everyday drivers car

It is terrific that Toyota is making a "me too" vehicle. (Heavy sarcasm) The US market needs another long-hood, short-trunk 2-door coupe, even though there is a dearth of options in the 2+2 hatchback coupe arena. (More sarcasm)

They responded to my E-Mail specifying design requirements w/ a polite "thank you".

My prior reply lists my results from examining the options in the US market.

This image shows the seat from a UK Honda Civic Type R. That is a 2+2 hatchback coupe, but front drive, also not in the US now.

IMO, the Alcantara and fabric would be perfect for me. Leather is my last choice for seat fabric.

There are three 2+2 hatchback coupes available in the US, the Mitsubishi Eclipse,the Audi TT Coupe and the Porsche 911 Targa.

The Eclipse is front-drive and I prefer rear-drive on a sporty vehicle.

The Eclipse has the butt-ugly rear spoiler w/ the 3.8 v6 and the butt-ugly satellite antenna on the side of the roof.

There is almost no utility offered by the hatchback on the 911 Targa and the price w/ options is more than I need.

So, it is GREAT that Toyota will also offer a 2+2 coupe to compete w/ the dozen plus others on style and cool features!

They don't need to offer a vehicle to fill a market segment that remains empty of competition.

On the plus side, I'm saving big bucks! So far there are 2½ new cars that I haven't purchased because a vehicle that meets my requirements isn't offered in the USofA, while I continue to drive my existing vehicles.

I have sent letters to the various manufacturer's telling them what to build or import. Many w/ no response. Toyota was a polite "thank you". My favorite was from MBUSA who told me that they are successful because they know their customer and they provide products and services to satisfy those requirements.

I can't believe it, but yes. The CR-Z only had a rear seat in Japan. The US gets a "cubby space". If it's not readily apparent, I am not a fan of the "CR....holy change a cool car into a grocery getter batman!"

hmm im not much of a hybrid fan although the cr-z is an exception
i cant see myself buying one because the back of it annoys me
low horsepower and no road trips due to the battery o and iv always wondered if they have any special aftermarket modifications for hybrid engine?

I sell toyota's for a living and cannot wait for this thing to drop. I fully agree with everything I'm reading. My thoughts are that this thing should be a tuners dream, offer the 200 hp NA and with subaru making the engine I think it goes without saying there should be a 300 Hp turbo counterpart. Toyota knows how to release cars that will sell. There is no reason to bring this out and not have it crush everything else in the marketplace.
My next request is two words, TARGA TOP!
Three do NOT call it a Scion or Lexus.
Four, Agree fully it needs a brand new six speed that feels more like a honda gearbox than anything else. I saw someone mention audio, Toyota's JBL systems are some of the best factory units out there already so it will bump.
Last, SEATS NEED to be alot better than any of the "sport" offerings we currently have. Toyota needs to go crawl through some Evo's Sti's for the high end and maybe an si or old mazdaspeed three for the low end at the very least. tC or corolla xrs seats WILL not cut it!

oh actually only the turbo motor should be from subaru. The NA inthusiasts would probably rather work on an I4 capable of higher revs than a h4 from subaru, save that beef for the forced air!

The seats in my 91 MR2 Turbo were the best sport seats I have ever owned. They had manual lumbar (a crank you would pump) and ADJUSTABLE side bolsters(at the hips and ribs) that had wheels on the side that you could turn to adjust how tight the bolsters were. This was awesome because you could adjust the seat to hug you like the expensive racing seats that have to be formed around the driver and everything was manual so less weight and less eletrical drag on the engine. I hate that these seats have never been seen on any other vehicles...
