Excuse my lack of knowledge but was wondering what, if any are some negative reasons to lower a car? I assume the only reason isn't just because of reduced clearance?

Youd probably have to re set some of the suspension parts so they dont take extra wear and tear but other than that i cant think of anything other than being low to the ground and scraping it
it all depends on the car. some cars suspension components cant handle the lowered stance well so some extra ware my happen. also issues with camber if it cant be adjust may cause excess tire ware. my guess is that this car wont have to much of a tough time...as long as toyota makes it modder friendly.
The only practical reasons I can think of would be speed bumps and car wash rails.
if i end up getting this car, i will get coilovers, so i can lower it to the tires perfect, maybe even a little past it, a must is get some spacers so the tire meets the wheel walls or just get new rims and yes it will not be a daily driver. i bet it will make the car look 100 times better.

Coilovers are a great idea IMO for this car. Hopefully won't have to wait too long after release for them to come out.
i hope Tein has a set
heres a few pros and cons to lowering any car. while there are cons to lowering a car. the pros far outweigh the cons to lowering it.
pros - lower center of gravity
reduced body roll
more agressive look due to the lessened wheel gap
better cornering grip due to added negative camber
cons - lessened ground clearance. chance for car underchasis to scrape
more stress and wear on certain suspension components.
increased tire wear due to added negative camber.
increased tire wear due to added negative camber.
that can be fixed
underchasis to scrape
not a big deal really
more stress and wear on certain suspension components.
true. you will end up replacing axle boots a few times of the life of the car( if they are not made well that is)

The real question is where do you live? In Toronto, you can only go so low due to road conditions. I know a lot of cities where you might get away with it and it would be fine but in some spots like Montreal or NYC I would think twice.

i'm from toronto and while it is difficult driving a lowered car it is not impossible. you just need to take it slow around bumps. but it does make any car handle better. no doubt with the ft86 that it will definitely improve handling. plus with the rumored height adjustable suspension on the FT86 i know a lot of future owners will definitely lower theirs.
