Scion FR-S Interior shots, what an upset...

Anyone else feel as wronged as I do about this? After seeing this shots of the GT86 I was so excited to get in one of these and call it my own. Now after seeing what Scion did - or didn't do is more like it, I don't know anymore... The radio fascia is just awful. The materials aren't even the same colors. Everything looks like it was made with a dremel and some left over plastic in someones garage. The DIN pocket looks like a bad aftermarket radio kit. The center console looks plain as can be. Ugh

I will guess this much, which is probably fairly accurate. The car looks to be base model. The GT86 looks like it is equipped with Nav (obviously), Traction control, leather trimmed interior bits, heated seats, Sport mode?, Dual climate control with digital display, some extra metal trim, push button starter, and most likely some other things. I just hope this IS in fact just a matter of upgrading your options at the dealer. Brembos would be a nice plus too And on a side note, I'm changing my airbag cover to the GT86 as well haha

Thoughts? Opinions? Facts? Sorry if it's a repost, but I didn't see anything about it here. Maybe I'm blind

I personally like the interior. It is very concentrated on DRIVING. I dont need fancy gizmos in my interior. I think the quality is pretty nice for an entry level sports car. All black interior. leather shiftboot and ebrake boot. Red stitching. I dont know it is good enough for me.

I'll agree with you there, the car is about driving and that's what enthusiasts are all about. In my mind though, If I am going to spend 30ish thousand on a loaded out brand new car that I will be daily driving, I'd like to have something nice to look at inside as well. If I wanted power with no options I would go buy a C5 Z06. I'm still young (just turned 23) and I have a house to pay for and possibly a car payment soon. I want to love what I buy not just like it Plus, what are YOU staring at the whole time you drive? The exterior or the interior? I'd like the best of both worlds.

I don't know what you are comparing it to though. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe interior isn't that nice either. Mitsubishi Evolution X. Not that nice of an interior. Subaru WRX STi very plasticky. 370z G37? Better then G35 and 350z but still quite plasticky. Honda Civic Si? Pure plastic.

Take a look at the competition. It is actually quite nice for a 30k sports car.

BTW here are the ACTUAL Scion FR-S interior shots. THe one you posted is the Toyota 86 interior

Looks fine to me, it is a $25k car, not a BMW.

I just think the GT86 I posted with the nav and climate control looks a lot better than that. The center console doesn't flow above the shifter. The boots, shift knob, ebrake handle, shift surround in those pictures all look good. The HVAC and clock look bad. The digital Climate control looks MUCH better. It's not like I'm comparing the Scion to a BMW. I'm not. I'm comparing the GT86 to the Scion FR-S. It's the same car. Should it not come equally equipped? I'm saying if the rest of the world gets the GT86 interior posted, and we don't get those options, we got screwed. This is apples to apples. I'm not comparing any other make of cars here. Given the option what would you rather have? The nice, finished looking interior or the plain one. It's not a hard decision. If you want to track your car and only care about how the car drives then by all means strip the dash for all I care. If I buy a car I want to love it. That's like saying you're dating a plus size super model that's also an amputee. Wouldn't you rather just have the super model and not the lesser version...?

I think we were warned by Toyota that the interior wouldn't be that equipped with gadgets. They wanted a true drivers car. At first they said no CD player, just a radio. Just to save weight and reduce costs. As for the nav. Scion will most likely offer it as an option but not standard. Which I prefer because I would rip that thing out and put my own Navigation unit in anyways. JDM spec cars always get better interiors then the USDM spec cars. I am glad that they are not that different. It could have been much worse. I personally find the dash on the FR-S to be pretty good for what it is. Its nicer then the Civic Si and Genesis 2.0T. I prefer it over the G35 and 350z. I don't really need really flashy super high quality materials in my dash. As long as it functions and its light I'm happy.

For the navigation, instead of opting for the factory upgraded navigation from Scion just buy a top of the line Pioneer Double Din with GPS. Those things are pretty damn advanced.

Oh for sure. Factory Navs are usually 3x as much as a nice Pioneer and have 1/4 of the functions. You guys think the push button starter will be there?

I believe Scion usually has the push start as an extra option. Don't know if it's worth it. Or just buy an aftermarket push start.

i'd just leave it I prefer a car with out push start anyways, i personally love to put my key i and then just turn over the car.

I dont mind the cheap looking interior i mean even with BMW, the interior is no biggie, i dont get people when they become to picky over interior, the only one interior i cannot stand is Lexus's grey interior, worst and ugliest color choice in the world.

I don't like that scion badge in the middle of the wheel. I thought the reason most of the emblems on steering wheels were pressed on was because they would hit you when the airbag went off. Besides, a Toyota or 86 badge would rock my socks.

It would be hard to not expect manufacturers to put their logo on the steering wheel. Almost everyone does it.

Just look at the dash from the original eight-six. Alot about this car is completely different but still subtly the same. If you look at the old AE86 dash and just look at the basic shapes, geometry, and where everything is located, you pick up on the subtle references.
