    Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S Official Weight

So apparently the official weight of the Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S ISSSSSSS

    drumrolllllllll....

    1280 kg or 2822 lbs

Or is it? That is the weight that was stated by a recent reviewer of the first drive of the Toyota FT-86 prototype. YES it is just a prototype but they did use it for the test mule so I don't think production will be too far away from that number IF the guy who stated it isnt bullshitting us. That is a tad bit heavier then I thought it was going to be.

The R version of the FT-86 is going to be lighter and feature a built in roll cage. I am guessing the R might be 2600lbs?

That sounds just about right for the regular FR-S/FT86 with everything you'll need. The R version FT86 might be a bit lighter but not significantly.

It's a good weight to work with since the availability of Carbon fiber parts will blow up!

CF doors, hood, trunk & fenders will help a lot to bring the weight down a few hundred pounds.

2700 Pound with a full interior, but i think after some carbon parts, lexani glass strip interior bringing the car to around 2500-2400 pounds with the same power number would make the car a lot zippier and quicker around corners, but with with the needed suspension changes to compensate the lost weight.

2800lbs is def heavier then most people expected. They wanted 2500lbs. The latest s2000 is 2,855 lb with hardtop and all accessories. And slightly heavier then the DC5 and DC2 Integras.

The FR-S might be heavier than we expected but i think it's just about right for a car with a full interior, everything you could ask for and all the creature comforts. The power-to-weight ratio seems to be fine too..... 200hp and 2800LBS.

I bet if Scion/Toyota was to make this car any lighter it would end up costing more or result in them removing some features, then it just wouldn't be a car for everyone.

Can't wait to see how light we can make the FR-S get with gutting the interior, CF parts, etc

I'm not disappointed. From everything that has leaked, I think this car will be light, agile, and quick..

2800lbs isnt heavy but it isn't LIGHT. If they really did make it the 2500lbs that was rumored it would have made a huge difference in the cars capabilities.

2600 R spec would sound about right but putting it down to 2500 or even 2400 would make a world of diffrence in a car like this, light weight equal awsome!

With weight around 2500, it would be awesome for performance but then the car would lack of creature comforts and other needed extra's in a car.
Interested to see what the aftermarket world will bring to this community to make the FR-S/FT86/BRZ lighter.

Carbon fiber body parts. Titanium Exhaust, Remove interior. Racing seats, Remove airbags. Racing steering wheel. Lightweight forged rims, lexan glass, tons of things. All extreme. But its possible to have a 2500lb race car from 2800lbs.

Spot on... a ton of carbon parts, and a whole bunch of other stuff as well!
