So the Toyota FT-86 will feature the Toyota keyless go system. Not sure if Scions have adapted this system so don't know if the Scion FR-S will feature it.
Here is a video showing what it does

Nothing too special but it is a cool modern day feature to have on the car. I guess since Toyota plans to keep this car in production for a while (i hope) this is a start to help them keep up with the times and not get left behind.
im guessing its just a key fob with the lock unlock system, and within a certain peramiter around the key and the car, it will start if the key is not near the car it will not start, and will dissenaged once it leaves the field of the key...?
but ive seen some of these backfire where the car will keep driving not enabling the auto off once out of range thingy.
-Mugen NHBP RSX-S
-2011 Honda Fit
-2012 Scion FR-S on order
I like the Keyless system, very easy to use and idiot proof haha
Sure beats having to pull your keys out to start the car, instead just press a button and go!
One awesome thing is if you lock your keys in the trunk by accident you can still start the car and drive it to the dealer to have them unlock it! LOl
I like smart key, and the RS tC had it.. It was a nice touch..It's convenient and smooth. BTW, did you know that a person with a heart defibrillator should not put their smart key close to it(like in a front shirt pocket)! those things send out some crazy signals apparently.
Its definitely convenient to have the smart key. They are harder to copy plus you have no ignition to wear down and you don't have to always be looking for where you put your keys as long as its somewhere on your body on bag. Really hope this feature makes it onto the Scion.
the smart key idea is anything new its just new for the newer model cars to carry them for that extra luxury feel,BMW lexus and other higher end dealers have been doing this for a while so its no surprise that they finally moved it over to the Toyota brand.
