Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S Brake ; Braking System

According to recent reports the FT-86 base model will have brakes made by Hitachi. The R version of the FT-86 will have Brembo made brakes.

I can only guess that the Scion FR-S will have the regular Hitachi brakes.

Anyone know anything about Hitachi brakes? Seems like its popular on Nissan cars.

Hitachi brake as I know them are your regular OEM style brakes. It does the job well enough but nothing crazy. It's not dirt cheap stuff but it's reasonable for what it is.

Seems like Toyota and Scion likes them enough to throw them on their new sport coupes.

Since Hitachi is making these brakes for our cars, it's probably going to be better than what you'll find in Civic's, Rolla's, etc

Hitachi brakes.. with 6 pot up front and 4 pots up in the rear for the TRd spec, but as regular brakes they'll get cooked up really fast i bet.

Wonder if the R version will simply get the TRD brakes. 6 pot calipers are quite large for a 200hp car.
