    Official FT-86 FR-S Interior Discussion

Many of you know that recently snaps of the FT-86 interior has surfaced in a leaked brochure. Now I dont know for sure whether these are official snaps of the official interior of the FT86 but lets assume so.

First thing I noticed were the SEATS. Those are actually pretty nice looking seats. Look very much like Recaro race style seats. Looks like suede and jersey material. Good side support.

Two cup holders on the front. White faced RPM gauge. The theme here seems to be red with red accented steering wheel, seats, stitching, ebrake cover and door handles. I don't exactly understand what the middle portion of the dash is with the information panel there. Maybe a clock? Thats a big portion dedicated to just a clock.

Looks like it has a push to start button.

The steering wheel looks decent. Though I dont know if this is an modellista accessory of an OEM steering wheel.

The most interesting thing to me is where the shift knob is there is a black panel on the side the states what seems to be automatic transmission features? But this car has a clutch? A bit confused.

EDIT: Larger photos added. New trim photo.

Here is an article scan showing the interior options for the FT-86

The steering wheel is very ugly...but at least it is a 3 spoke. They need to make the wheel look like the LFA wheel or at least the tC steering wheel.

The tC steering wheel is flat bottom...this car better have a flat bottom wheel.

The wheel might be OEM it might not be. The car is featured on modellista accessories magazine.

i agree that wheel is hideous. the rest of the car looks great but, it looks like they took a styling note from honda with the black suede and red stitching. lol

yes the dash is tight...if it looks like this in the base car....and remember Scions come loaded...there is not base..only choice of auto or stick.

We are good...hopefully the price is low to mid 20k range.

    Answers:
    - The middle portion of the dash is dedicated for the Navigation screens which are pretty much standard on JDM cars today.
    - Anything that is red in the pics are the Modellista option.
    - This is a brochure, so this collage of images show ALL models: base, optioned out, manual AND automatic.
(and imho, I dont feel this is a final production wheel we would get- it doesnt even have an oval in the middle for the ( T ) logo. The shape is small and circular so it could just be a dummy wheel)
UPDATE: This WILL be the production wheel- the reason it's logo shape in the middle is circular is because it will have the (86) logo instead like in my avatar! I wonder if the Scion version will say (86) there too?

Thanks for confirming. So the seats are modelista as well then. The navigation area. Is that the area right above the controls that are left blank? What is the half oval area ontop of that?

So it would be nice for the auto drivers if the automatic FT86s have shift knobs and boots as well.

Those seats are awesome. I hate the center mounted tach though. Overall the interior looks good. The steering wheel is a little much though.

    import_nation,
im guessing the the seats are what all models will get. It's the RED inserts on them (and other interior areas) that are part of the Modellista option.
The nav. area is that odd looking rectangle above the red triangle hazard light button and under the "half oval area".
There would be a 7" nav. there if this was an ordinary Toyota (even Corollas have them in Japan) but for weight savings, the 86 will leave it up to the customer to decide if a nav. will go in. The "half oval area" are left and right air vents!
And yes, the autos. will emulate a manual trans, but a keen eye will notice that the auto's gear selector is shorter than the true manual!
UPDATE: I didnt realize there is no stereo in these interior shots! That flat empty rectange will be where the touch screen nav is for Japan AND where OUR CD/radio will go, SILLY!

Here is a new photo guys.

    Things to note:
    - “86″ logo in the steering wheel insert
    - Carbon fiber trim on dash
    - Traction control is the third button below the shifter (previously hard to see on the leaked Modellista images)
    - Digital speedometer readout
    - Gear indicator below speedometer

The FT86 logo is a pretty nice addition. I really like the cluster arrangement. Digital speedo + gear indicator = very useful.

I have to say im quite impressed with how the interior turned out. For the speculated price, with all the features the FT86/FR-S is said to have it's "good enough" .

I know of domestic's around the same price range that have horrible interior's.

The steering wheel isn't too bad either, actually reminds me of a mustang's steering wheel

Will be interested to see what interior mod's will become available and how one can improve the look

The interior actually came out okay, im quiet impressed with it.

When Toyota stated that it would be a very track focused interior we were all thinking garbage interior on the car, and tons of cheap plastic.

it still has a higher end sport car finish on the inside.. something which Subaru should work on...
