    FR-S FT-86 BR-Z expectations?

We have all asked and discussed the important things that we expect from Toyota such as engine choice, output, transmission choice, body weight, height, size, and other related things. What do you guys expect from the FR-S in the smaller things? Small things are important too. Keep in mind this vehicle is aimed at a low price range so don't ask for insane things like a navigation system and a 1000watt speaker system.

    Here is my list:

    • I personally would like a push start. This is not really just for the cool factor. Key starts have proven to wear down over years and can leave your car in a dangerous position to theft.
    • I would also like to have at least 17" rims and decent tires from the factory.
    • A decent flowing exhaust.
    • Projectors in the headlights of decent quality.
    • I would expect the interior to be decent. Not luxurious but I dont want the panels to rattle.
    • I expect the motor mounts to be decent strength.
    • Would like good support in the stock seats
    • A well designed driver oriented gauge cluster.
    • A weighted shift knob.
    • Aluminum pedals.
    • Tactile feedback in the buttons in the interior as well as the paddle shifter.
    • A small sub woofer in the trunk
    • At least 2 pot caliper in front (I'm pretty sure its 2 pot already)
That is all I can think of at the top of my head for now. It really isn't asking for much. Just better designs, not necessarily higher quality. Its all in the design. For example panels. Bad panel rattle is not caused by thin or cheap plastic. Its caused by the clips that hold the panel together. There are either not enough or the clips are made poorly and get loose easily.

What about all of ya'll? What do you guys want out of the FR-S FT86 BRZ?

Nice wish list, but what price do you expect this car to hit. I would say for most of those items......no way unless you are looking at low to mid 20k range.

How strong to motor mounts need to be for a 200 HP engine? They will be anemic for sure.

No factory exhaust is free flowing due to sound sensitivity of buyers.

    IMO, they better have 18's.

    Shift knob will be cheap.

I doubt no push button start either......see unintended acceleration complaints of owners not knowing how to turn off push button start cars.

I think you will get the rest.

well the rumored price is 20k and was could see it being sold between 20k to high 20's so though things shouldn't be too much of an issue on the car

look at Hyundai there releasing fully loaded cars with navi leather heated seats for under 30k

Doesn't that new yellow scion come with a push start? I mean the FR-S is most likely going to be bigger than the 7.0 tC, so I don't really see why not but yeah, it's for a low price, I wouldn't expect them to offer it either. But hey do they still do magnetic keys or are those outdated/only for German cars, sorry been out of the key game for a little bit lol.

Its not the 200hp. You would be suprised. I've seen some Celicas tear their mounts stock. Its not just power that stresses out mounts its the way you drive. If you track often and drive the car hard the engine will be moving hard and put stress on the mounts. If the mounts aren't meant for spirited driving they will tear.

This car is still being marketed as a daily driver though, not a full blown race car. I wouldn't expect anything too high performance. I don't expect to see anything special, motor mounts wise. How are the factory mounts on a wrx? And as far as push button starts, I doubt the car will come with it factory. It's not just a matter of the button, but the key fob system, sensors and transmitters. Adding the parts from the release series tC would be an option, if it wasnt for this caf being made by Subaru. It'd be interesting to see whether the connectors will be Subaru or Toyota. My guess is Suby. And I wouldn't expect to see a weighted shift knob either. They do, after all, need to sell accessory shift knobs right?

Subarus engine mounts are good. Its Toyotoas mounts that are not as solid as they should be. They wear and tear and fail before they should.

I can think of one specific motor mount that fails frequently on Toyotas. The rest, in my experiences, have been pretty solid considering they're not really designed for "spirited" driving (IE: Camry's). But hopefully the Fr-s will get a Subaru sourced mount our Toyotas suppliers will beef it up little.

Mount problems show up on all models of cars if they are driven hard. It would make sense for performance cars to fill the mounts with more rubber then liquid. This isn't a huge request really. Its more of a design research and development requirement. Don't need 75a race mounts. Just want mounts that'll take tracking without tearing every year.

Same goes for the clutch. Don't need a stage 1 or stage 2 clutch (though stage 1 style clutch would be nice) just don't give us a crappy clutch.

You people tend to forget that this is a stock car, with race inspired design now a race card with solid mount off the factory, there has to be some comfort and everything as well, a decent clutch will do fine as for motor mounts, i dont think 90% of the world who drive this car will want mount shaking their dash.

I'm not suggesting stiff motor mounts. Im suggesting motor mounts that won't tear easily just from stock motor + aggressive driving. All it takes is to fill the mount with more rubber then liquid. It doesn't cause more vibrations, it cost a tad bit more but the mounts will take the hard shifting better.

50 cents cost + the thousands of cars to roll off the line, + testing the mount that already exist, thats a lot to ask in a way from a large scale R&D manufacturing cost!

In there eyes you have these guys for inserts!

Well I mean if they are going to design an engine mount might as well do it properly the first time around.

If there are problems with the mounts you guys are going to be complaining out of your ying yang.

Mazda has mount problems, they haven't fixed that issue yet. They just leave that for those who abuse (race) their cars to pay for and upgrade on their own. They are not going to offer a factory race car, that is for the aftermarket. Expect a crap clutch just like all daily driven cars. They don't want dad to test the car for junior and have chatter, they want the easy on the leg, nice slip so it doesn't jerk moms neck on the test drive. Just saying, you have to be real with expectations people.

Hes got a point here, about 1% of people complain about of their ying yang while the other 99% enjoy their car as is....
