Would you guys rather buy real parts for your FR-S when they come out, or buy a local made replicated kit?
Or replica parts of real parts...
Here is a typical conversation...

For engine parts I always buy authentic. Exhaust I'd buy authentic. Body parts I dont mind replica as long as they are good fitment. Interior parts are a mix. I dont like replica seats or steering wheels. But pedals and knobs aren't that big of a deal. I dont like replica or non OEM headlights though. Usually they are really cheap and tacky.
No way I am putting all that money into this platform. Engine mods to get to WRX specs.....OK. Body kits and crap.......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. This car already looks ricer enough.
I dunno do what would you call a ricer?
Well no ones asking you to build it to WRX spec's could do a high NA build or just swap the motor out for a ej20 not a ej25
As a rule I'd buy authentic. It would have to be something very minor to buy elsewhere, and even then it would depend on who and where.
If money was no issue authentic would be always the case. Sometimes in depends. If you track the car is there a point in getting an authentic lip kit? You may destroy that lip kit in a season. If you are a show car then yes probably you would like to buy authentic. If you daily drive it is up to you. I find that some manufacturers make replica body kits and lip kits with fitment just as good if not better then authentic (ViS Racing props)
I agree and disagree with this statement.
I wouldn't mind tracking the FR-S if an authentic polyurethane lip kit was manufactured for it, which one probably will with all the hype that will go on once it's released.
As for any authentic FR-S fiberglass lip, I wouldn't dare using that for track use.
So lets just hope we get some good options on polyurethane lips for the FR-S
Its personal preference really. I wouldn't track with an authentic front lip. I'd just buy a cheap poly or abs front lip if I knew the car would mainly be a track queen.
Funny though Usually Polly Lip fit like shit, since they do stretch and dis form over time.
If your going to the track why not just buy another bumper! just putting that onw out there!
That is another option that is very favoured. Just buy another bumper. Actually I've tried a few FRP front lips recently and they all had perfect fitment. I guess manufacturing processes are getting better.
