    RUMOR: FR-S FT86 Price!

Japanese version of the Toyota FT86 presentation scheduled for the Tokyo Motor Show later on in the year, Japanese magazines have been speculating on a lot of details about the car that could single-handedly save the entry-level sports car market in Japan.

most seem to be agreeing on is that the successor to the legendary hachiroku will be sold for ¥1.99-million.

as of late the converted price of $26,000 might seem pricey buy we can expect the Scion version of the car to be much closer to the $20,000 mark.

$20 000 USD for a entry level Scion FR-S seems just about right. I wouldn't mind paying that. For $26 000 I will want some nice big wheels that don't take away from the FR-S performance, a crazy enough diffuser, and just something close enough to the FR-S concept! Maybe i'm asking for too much, but for $26 000, it better be good!

they will NEVER sell this car for 20,000 USD though and I'd be willing to stake my life on it. I mean really think about it the Scion tC goes for 19,000 USD right now if they sold this car for 20 they would essentially kill one of their own cars in sales that being said their gonna just dump on extras and what not to get at least a 2000-3000 USD price gap in between these two cars guaranteed it would be pointless to compete against yourself.

Good point. The Scion TC is close to 20,000. If the FR-S is too close it would hurt the sales of the TC which Scion would never do.

    I'll agree with that.

Yeah, current automatic tC is for 2012 is 20,305 at least here in the midwest. I'm thinking 23 and up! I'm working at a Scion dealership, so hopefully we will know something soon! This thing has been on the hush!

I unno about you guys but the Scion Tc just doesn't cut it. It doesn't seem like a real sports coupe. It comes down to being a 2 door hatchback coupe.

The FR-S will be the real deal, the real 2 door coupe, no hatchback.

But I agree the $20 000 price might not be a great idea, maybe a starting price of $18 000 might be better? Or who knows the FR-S might be priced $1000-2000 more than the TC

$18,000 of course would be better.. but that price is extremely unrealistic, I mean I agree with you I dislike the tC in general but theres no way Toyota is going to sell a RWD 200hp car for 18k when they currently sell a FWD 180hp 19k car at the moment. Just the RWD drivetrain alone is at least 2000$ extra and I read somewhere the FR-S is coming with a stock LSD which is another 1000$ so I don't know why people keep saying 20k mark its simply just not going to happen. Subaru on the other hand who knows maybe they'll sell a stripped down version without the LSD and rims and junk and get it closer to the 20k mark as one of their bottom trim levels

18000 would be awesome. Honestly though yeah that's true Toyota won't do that to their own car, the tC. But hey maybe Scion will discontinue the tC, but doubt it with the redesign, or just lower the price of that to 16k, could be another Corolla. But both seem very doubtful. But the question is, would anyone really buy the tC after this car comes out? Especially since it's their price difference isn't too big.

Well, it better be way cheaper than the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T, considering they are not making a turbo version. The Hyundai looks good, has a killer warranty, and is also RWD. Now, if the final car looks like the concept (it won't) I could live with the price just based on looks.

car buzz says the Subaru BRZ will start at around $27 000, and they seem to be a reliable source.

I guess we can figure out the Scion FR-S/FT-86 price around that figure. I would imagine a price difference within $2000 - 3000 maybe up to 4000

If the motor for the fr-s produces 200 hp, that will put within about 10-15 hp of the TURBO Genesis coupe. Turbo or not, this car should smoke a Genesis. I think that a likely price point is $23,000-$25,0000. Any more and you might aswell get a mustang gt for $28,000 and get 400 hp. Any less and your gonna kill some tC sales. Although I dont think this car will have anywhere near the production numbers of the tC so hopefully it wont be all that common. Hopefully the limited backseat space will deter some shoppers so this doesn't become another car on every corner.

I'm guessing low $20000 for a FR-S in USA. The price in YEN is just a rumor after all. I'm sure the FT86 cost more then the FR-S. Its most likely going to come with more.
