    Release Date??????

Alright so wassup with this whole release date for the Toyota/Scion FT-86/FR-S?? Cause some people tell me that it comes to American markets Spring 2012, edmunds.com says winter 2012, and then on this link Scion FR-S designed with a rollcage in mind and other key tidbits some guys says "Reports are that the FRS will be offered in the American market in
December 2011 - worth waiting for." Who to believe ???

I dont think we have any info on an actual release date in America or Canada. Everything is just speculation.

The FR-S world debut is at the 2011 Tokyo Motor show, In October( i think). Production models should hopefully be release right after, or worst case within the first few months of 2012. BTW I heard April 2011, can't confirm it thought.

Just check out this FR-S release date discussion Expected Toyota FT-86 Release Date ??

    bugs? lol
i feel like we're waiting on the new iPhone or something.

Anyway, in order for you to wait for 'bugs' to be workedo out, youd have to wait for the next model. I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER.

I just wanna know how much a regular 6spd costs with a few options so I can start setting aside $ now.

"bugs" are the last thing on my mind, I just want the car, hate this waiting lol

I wish we had the answer to the FR-S pricing with options but Scion, Toyota and Subaru will stay tight lipped until after the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show when the FR-S debuts.

    A 6 speed FR-S, with a few options might run you $25 000 - 30 000 realistically, not real figures but I think it's close enough.

Sometimes manufacturers skrew things up pretty badly. example : TOYOTA. Remember the braking system failures they had on the car? What if similar things happen? you never know. They would recall it and fix it but all new production models would have it fixed from the factory. All manufacturers have problems. Hondas and their transmission problems.

Yea I remember the Toyota braking issue, man was that news everywhere lol.
No matter what, cars will always have some problems. Lets just hope the FR-S issues won't be anything major to the point we can't drive the car.

I'm curious to see what FR-S recalls will be in the near future.

Problems with the power steering system will really piss me off if it happens. Toyota was notorious for this in the 90's, but everything else on the cars was excellent far better than going for a Government Motors car.

waiting seems perfectly logical to me. I'm not really in a rush to own a FR-S FT86. I am in rush to test drive one and see one to decide whether I wanto be in a rush to buy one haha. I never buy things based on anticipation. For all we know Toyota could completely skrew up the tracking performance of this thing. This car needs to be balanced and agile on the track. Thats not something that can just be slapped onto the car. It needs to be designed that way.

    Great point.

The Scion FR-S is designed for track use and tuners in mind
here's a thread i made on that Scion FR-S designed for track use and tuners in mind, discuss...

So with us knowing Scion has tuners and track racing in mind, yes they will go ahead with this. But, Toyota doing it right, is what we need to be concerned about, like you said "it needs to be designed that way"

Toyota/Scion has really passionate people like ourselves behind the FR-S build, it should turn out good.

Lets hope so. Even though the LF-A is a great accomplishment for Toyota it didnt exactly do that well in sales or performance compared to other cars. Slightly money wasted designing that thing. Not a huge achievement in the auto industry. Now the Pagani Zonda R. haha.
