    FR-S Release date questions.

When exactly is scion planning the release the FR-S in the US. I hear its spring of 2012; however, it seems to me that the scion is the most promising of the three models.

With that being said, Subaru have already announced their dates to be in April of 2012, which to me is more specific than just spring of 2012. Anyone got any answers???

Or a closer idea to the date.

Earlier today on this forum I was reading a thread saying we should expect to see the FR-S sales start sometime within the first 6 months of 2012. I also heard about an April 2012 release date, but that might be rumors.

    How I look at it...

FR-S debut (production model) will happen end of 2011 @ Tokyo Motor Show, so the FR-S sales should start sometime within the first few months of 2012.

i hope there won't be a delay with the FR-S release date

toyota is still recovering from the Japan earthquake & tsunami, right now it's going to be tough for them. the japan situation may or may not cause issues with the Fr-S release but there is a possibility.

it's kinda early to be asking a question like this, aren't they still testing the car?
as we get closer to the ft-86 debut were more likely to hear some real ft-86 release date info and not all this speculation.

After asking a Scion Salesperson at the dealership I work at the basic response I got was: "The car is definately going into production, It should be released in 2012, and we expect it by August if not sooner." I also asked about putting in an order and putting a deposit down and they said that won't happen until everything about the car is finalized/official (ie: looks , options, colors, specs). I'm hoping they have a couple of these cars at the L.A. Auto Show that I can see in person and maybe see the color options (i'm hoping for a pearl white like the Lexus IS').

I'd also like to know where the FR-S are going to be made. The FT86 will most likely be made in Toyota plant in Japan. What about the FR-S?

I hope that the FR-S is made in Japan. Let's just say I think it'll be a better made car from there. If the Japanese version (FT86?) is made in Japan, then I would think the FR-S will be made there also. I don't think that they will be producing so many of them to have more than one plant cranking them out. But who knows, maybe their anticipating a lot of sales for the car.

I think where it is going to be built is going to be pretty important. There are good examples of JDM vs USDM japanese cars for build quality. There are some Hondas that are built in Canada that the same or similar models are built in Japan. The Canadian models are built quite cheap. Does anyone know where Scions manufacturing plants are?

I think Detroit has a Toyota/Scion manufacturing plant. I wouldn't doubt it tho since Detroit is motor city.

For the sake of history I think the FR-S, FT-86 and BRZ should be built in Japan.

    Production vehicle

I am really looking forward to the FRS. It is definately coming out in 2012.

I was able to sit in a production model (full proper vin) and hear it running.

Wanted to buy one than but no pricing or release date set. All other 2012 toyota's and Scions are launching November, so there must be something holding up the FRS. But the one I was in felt ready for consumer sales and was a little different from the red prototype on the scion web site.

Looking forward to the release of the FRS.

Really? You saw one and sat in one and this is all the info you can produce? It felt ready? It was a little different. That is such detailed info. Why even post this? If you saw it and sat in one, where, and give us some details as to how it is a little different???

i find this hard to believe but you could be legit, explain more about your FR-S experience.

to have anyone here take you seriously or on any forum you'll have to expand on this production model FR-S
