Would you want a spare tire in your FR-S?

Most of us seem concerned about the weight of this car, and we are always looking to shed anything in excess for the sake of performance. Would you want a spare tire in your FR-S, or would you prefer another alternative to save the extra lbs.? I believe some new cars now has a tire repair kit for quick roadside repairs, that fill your tire with foam and an air compressor to keep you going!

Every car I owned came with a spare tire and I cannot recall when last I had to use the spare tire. These days its not needed as much as before. All i depend on now is my road side assistance service, tire repair kit and a small jack.

Not me, I want that spare. I think what makes the most sense is to include the spare, and if any particular owner wants to remove it to save weight or add a little bit of storage space then by all means go for it.

I think the OP was more leaning towards what the owners themselves will do, rather than will the car come with it or not.

Honestly, I'll probably remove it. But then again, my mom has paranoia so she pays some small annual fee thing, and we get 3 "free" tows, so I will most likely just ask her for the info and phone # in case something does happen.

PS - now that i think about it, what she did is not a bad idea especially if you have more than 2-3 drivers in the house. And you can also "lend" it to buddies in need.

i think your mom signed up for CAA which is like 100 buks a year and you get 3 free tows with a maximum of 200KMS per tow, which isnt bad surprisingly!

I would just keep with the tire repair kit and just drive it to the shop and have them repair it with a patch

I think the donut spare tire. Run-flat tires would be nice but pricey.

run flat tires are nice and all but I doubt much people will buy them for the FR-S, since most people going for the FR-S are looking for an affordable sports coupe.

I think a set of run-flat tires for the FR-S will run you around $2000

Agreed, it's a high-end option for this kind of sports coupe.

what the point in getting run flats for 2000, when you have a flat tire were a pair kit will cost you 20 buks and a tow the the nearest gas station if anything like 100 buks? that almost 20 tows...

I'm pretty sure toyota or scion will include a spare tire. I'm gonna take mine out though =D

That's easy enough to do with a tire repair kit and a bicycle pump. Saves weight, and also worth the risk because flats that are unrepairable due to sidewall damage, etc., are relatively rare. If you have a non-repairable flat, call AAA. It's an option, but for me I'll still have the spare and repair kit aboard.

    So true...

I think if anyone had the money to buy run flats they wouldn't be looking to get a FR-S. $2000 can be a nice small down payment on a FR-S! lol

For the longest time i've been running regular tires and never had a flat.

I'll take my road side assistance minus the spare tire

It depends where you live too. Where I am the roads don't really have too many nails or anything that would cause a flat.
