Question Canadian FT86 - will it happen?

Has there been any announcements whatsoever on the 'guarantee' that the FT86 is coming to Canada? I know everybody has assumed it will be (and probably be no reason it wouldn't) but is there actually an official announcement by Toyota Canada or anything?

I think the FT-86 is coming to the North American's market, so I'm assuming that includes Canada? I hope the days are gone when the States gets certain cars and Canada doesn't... Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

Don't see why it wouldn't go to Canada as well unless the US market is so desperate for the car we steal them from you guys!

Let's hope not hehe. I think there will be a Canadian FT-86 - granted we may not get the FT-86 at the same time as the States, but I'm sure that it will come.

Do you think there will be significant differences between the Canadian and American models?

The Canadian and American models of the FT-86 should be similar - the only difference would be the speedometer (kms for Canadians, miles for Americans), but that's obvious. Other than that, I can't think of any reason why they would make the Canadian and American model FT-86s significantly different from each other.

Didn't think it was at the point anymore where the US and Canada get different cars, thought they are pretty much released in both countries no matter what now?

I would hope so. I know of a few cars in the past that had different models for the Canadian and American markets, but hopefully that has now changed. I'm not 100% sure about the crash test ratings and how similar they are for both countries, but provided that they are, the Canadian model FT-86 and the American model Ft-86 should be the same.

Yup, without a doubt. Toyota needs to bring back their reputation and sell as many cars as they can.

I agree. And I'm sure that there is a market for the FT-86 here in Canada. I think that if Toyota sells it, people will buy it... and if the price is reasonably affordable in comparison with the performance, it will be a big hit. There are enough people who will daily drive their FT-86 and then the others that will track it.

That said, I don't want to be driving a car that everyone else has but that's just me...

    Good point.

I just hope that the FT-86 is released to the Canadian and American markets at the same time. It would only be fair, right?

Just because it's fair that doesn't mean it's going to happen

Personally, I think the FT-86 release date will be rather close to each other for the Canadian and American models.
