So most of the first drive reviews ive read say the FR-s has a 7300-7500rpm redline, but the 1000rpms between the redline and where it makes peak power, they say it just runs out of steam. Car and Driver stated that it was likely the D4-S causing this gap. So in speculation: Do you think toyota left the ECU unlocked for the purpose of advertising fuel efficiency. Fuel efficiency sells now a days so by "de-tuning" it you have better fuel consumption and leaving it up to the owner to decide whether or not to reflash the ECU and gain horsepower at the loss of fuel consumption. Either that or a new set of cams are being developed for it....I hope
