Crawford Performance is first in the US To Tap Into The FRS/86 ECU!

On crawfords facebook page there is this photo

    and the captions are
"First Team In The US To Tap Into The FRS ECU!"

Wicked news for the FR-S Toyota 86! Modding our ECU should be as simple as flashes. NO need to purchase expensive aftermarket ECUs, no complicated tuning.

That's similar in design to WRX and EVO ecu's where flashes are done. Thanks Subaru!

It was only a matter of Who not If, especially with the unlocked ECU

Definitely excited that people are already getting to work on the ECU.

I'm really surprised they got their hands on it already - but this is great news. Toyota is serious about making this a tuner car. I project there will be a bunch of Scion Racing Draft cars next year too.

about time someone tapped into the ECU.

any updates on what they were able to achieve with the ECU tap? would be cool to see a before and after dyno and watch some power get unleashed!

And.................???? So they tapped in. What did they find? Any easy hidden power? Is it worth tapping? LOL

It's just great to hear that manufacturers are already trying to create software or programming to modify the maps on the stock ECU.

OK, but there is not sense to do that unless there is more power to be unlocked. If the thing is maxed out with its components, does it matter? I hope there is hidden power, but if it amounts to 10 or 20 HP, not sure I would be into screwing with it. I doubt there would be more than that on a NA motor anyway. Some timing changes to get around the factory emissions tune will certainly produce some power, but this is a VERY SMALL NA motor.

Well for those who want the most out of basic bolt ons such as an intake header exhaust in their FR-S. A easy / cheap to tune ECU would make the most of their investments.

I/H/E is the best thing to tune, even with an added on oil cooler as well, it will make minor diffrences but being tuned to that is still awsome !
