Toyota's chance to bring back the market share to their corner and make us forget about all these problems by introducing new, successful models

    Insider scoop maybe?

Ive heard from a couple of toyota factory reps that the whole gas pedal recall was leaked to the press by a higher up that was fired. toyota was taking care of there own stuff as per the recall but then got flooded by the media and started to be sued by every one with a prius and a lead foot (90% from cali ) The whole recall thing is over blown to me and not worth the $3.5+ billions in law suets.

There's much more to their problem than just gas pedals.

Almost seems like their whole engineered method for the cars are defective.

I know they have more problems than that but from a PR sense it is the worst. Toyota has there stuff under control trust me there situation is just worse due to the madia having a feild day like they always do when they catch "an inside scoop".As a Ford tech I know every company has there fare share of recalls some serious or not. Ford has a couple of dusies of there own aka car fires. So have faith you legion of 86 fans I think they will be fine.

True. Every manufacturer has had recalls and that in itself will not be the big problem for Toyota. What they have to overcome is the image they created in their attempt to hide the facts.

I've always liked Toyota and their image so I really hope they can. Will just take some time....

Just my thoughts, but don't you think that any future cars produced by Toyota (FT-86 included) will not have these problems? The issues have been brought to light, so Toyota would obviously make the necessary provisions/revisions in design to ensure that the problem is eliminated. If the FT-86 had the same problems as the current Toyota, then someone is obviously not doing their job.

I highly, highly doubt they will have the same issues.
