Greddy Turbo for the Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S??

Greddy Set to Build Scion FR-S for Ken Gushi in 2012

We have more information on this Scion FR-S build happening with Ken Gushi next season! It sounds like RS*R is taking a backseat like we posted a rumormill of earlier and they have a new company taking over building of the Scion. The Toyota GT-86 has been everywhere this weekend and we documented some production photos of what the car looks like as a production model. With a relationship already in place between Scion Racing and Greddy (see the Scion tC above) it sounds like they are going to call on them to complete the 2012 Scion FR-S build for Ken Gushi. We cannot wait to see what they will cook up for the new drifting season.
This could mean that as early as 2012 we could see Greddy pushing out a turbo kit for the Scion FR-S. Will most likely be a 5-10psi kit cast iron log style manifold. Greddy style intercooler and piping. Greddy BOV and wastegate. Similar to most of their entry level turbo kits.

The compression on the Scion FR-S is 12.5:1 which is a bit high. This may mean that we won't be able to run much boost in these engines. Can't tell for sure yet. Have to wait for it actually come out to see if the block and internals is strong enough.

that is something I've been thinking about as well. I am guessing 5psi?

Just like at HYUNDAI and Rhys Millen. He has the GC with V8's and high horsepower variants but nothing you can get in your street car, at least not yet.

Sure the car may look like the FR-S, but everything else may be totally custom. Even if it is a turbo version, the engine may not even be in the same position in the car. They make everything custom for those race cars. I would not hold my breath just yet.

i'd say maybe more than that. 10psi at the max for a reliable turbo setup. 7psi or around that should be ideal.
but we need to actually test it out, only a few months more to go ......
