    FR-S - FT-86 ITB Thoughts?

What do you guys think of an Boxer with ITB or is it best just to upgrade the intake manifold?

Or replace it with an ITB set-up as the throttle response is a massive increasing over the stock IM

Its popular with the 4AGE motors as well

If you plan to stay n/a and want the car to have maximum performance individual throttle bodies can give you very good gains. But its not very streetable. I would personally turbocharge the FR-S if I had to choose to do such a big modification.

It is pretty loud, if you run without a filter (which if you do it sort of affects the performance negatively) it is dangerous for obvious reasons. Same reason running your turbo open is dangerous (no filter)

If you live in a place like Cali, running ITB's on your daily wouldn't be an issue at all. I actually love ITB setup's. You have a cleaner looking engine bay, an engine that sounds BOSS! and the obvious performance gains.

    But

In the past Toyota engines have been boost happy and sure sound amazing when spooling up and the BOV and wastegate go off.

A properly tuned 2JZ-GTE/2JZGE-T engine is a great example

i'm a total newb when it comes to ITB's, but with all that extra air going to the I bet it won't be able to deliver a proper air/fuel mixture, or am I wrong?

Would have to optimize the ECU for a ITB setup?

Most likely. ITBs are considered a pretty big modification. Aftermarket ECU is needed + tune.

Never knew the M3's had factory ITB's or that they were available for M3's from the factory.

I think its Tomei that offers an ITB manifold for EJs for FI applications already. As far as i know both the E46 and E92 V8 M3s have itbs from the factory. Even the AE101 black top 4age's had factory itb manifolds, but most if not all factory itb setups come with some kind of intake plenum or air box. Def. want to hear a flat four with itbs and cams.
