    ft-86 engine confirmation?

has toyota confirmed the naturally aspirated 4cyl engine? also, when if at all could we be seeing a turbo version (possible labeled TRD)?

Given that its a going to be a Subaru power plant, there's probably a good chance there will be a turbo option at some point, if not at the release. It would be pretty easy for them to develop a 02-05 WRX-variant engine for that platform; 2.0L 227hp fits into their currently advertized vague engine specifications. I would be surprised if they had a high-strung NA motor given that their current 2.5L NA engines make 170hp.

One thing that will be cool and different to see is a Scion FR-S Hybrid. I can really see that happening in the future since there are those people that want that option. Also Toyota is pushing to make a lot of their vehicles come with a Hybrid option. Anyone think this will happen?

Nope. Will never happen. They never confirmed or even threw that idea out there. The only time it was mentioned ever was in rumors none of which had any proof. The flat 4 NA motor has been confirmed a long time ago. But the specs on the motor hasnt been confirmed although there has been a few numbers mentioned by Toyota reps. Also since this will be a Subaru powerplant I would expect to be able to swap it with any other Subaru motor out there just like how most of their cars are. A turbo option from Toyota is not that far from reality.

I dont think affordable sports hybrids are worth mentioning i mean look at the cr-z its slow and gets about the same mpg of a civic. Id much rather see a diesel FR-S much more torque

Good point. But in time hybrids will become cheaper. I really doubt we will see a Hybrid FR-S anytime soon, but 2013-2014 should be the latest time for it. By that time, the price for hybrid models should be much cheap than they're now.

A turbo diesel FR-S would be cool! All the power you need without the high cost of fuel.

CR-Z is just a huge fail. I think Mugen is trying to put some life back into it.

Mugen can put the life back in anything! lol But i doubt a hybrid fr-s will come anytime soon until they develop an EJ20 based typed hybrid, otherwise i doubt there's going to be any hybrid action going to happen.

Scion, Toyota & Lexus wants to have a full hybrid vehicle line-up by 2020. A Hybrid FR-S won't come anytime soon but they will have to hurry up on it since other manufactures will step up with their own.

The FR-S isn't even out and it already has people ready to go in dept for it lol the sooner Scion can release the FR-S hybrid, the better for them.
