THe 4U GSE ECU is just the stock ECU is it not? Aftermarket engine management system? Are you talking about ECUTek?
Yes, I believe the aftermarket management system referenced in the article I read concerned ECUTek, but I'm not certain about which magazine.
I have an obsession with ECU's and wish Scion would develop something stock that's dyno tested on a naturally aspirated computer that would increase the engine's performance by 10%.
If that could be done; adding a cat-back exhaust with cold air intake might increase FR-S performance numbers to 230 horsepower/175 torque. Damn..... I like the sound of those numbers!
and intake header and exhaust with a tune would yield over 25whp.
Last questions on ECU's?
Is there a best way to break-in an ECU? Will it be better if the engine works at highway speeds? Is it better running the engine in the city? How does driving the car in any routine way effect how the ecu will program itself and ultimately perform in the long term.
Would it be better if the cat-back exhaust system with cold air intake and summer tires are installed prior to running the engine for the first time? Is it necessary to run the engine for so many miles for the ecu to be effectively tuned?
Would a Scion dealer do a sport tune on the ecu and dyno test to max-out performance on the above mentioned add-ons? Would this negate the warranty? Is it very expensive to have done? Is this so much over-kill on my part?!
Any thoughts are appreciated......... Many Thanks !
I think you are putting too much thought into the ECU. It is always learning how you drive and making minor adjustments. The dealer will not tune your ECU for you. The ECU will learn bolt on modifications by its own. And there is no best way to break in an ECU (if there is a such thing)
Just drivel like you normally would.
Many thanks to you I_N.
I have a k&n air system, cat black exhaust and added a performance chip module (volo vp12) and have about 235hp now. Was thinking about maybe larger injectors, will see.
235whp? Do you have a dyno sheet? Never heard of the volovp12 before.
How's your gas mileage too
