wow, I may seriously consider this kit in the near future.......I'm not to bright on the ECUtek tune, so humor me: does it severly retard the timing so the engine can handle 9-12 lbs of boost? factory compression is 12.5/1 and thats pretty freaking high.....worried about reliability and longevity. obviously i can just keep it around 6 lbs,....but c'mon, who's gonna do something as silly as that?

I'm not too sure on the ECUteks specific tune for this turbo kit but generally it corrects the air to fuel ratio to keep up with the turbos additional air intake.

I think everyone is worried about reliability and longevity. There isnt a full understanding yet as to how much boost the FA20 can handle before the internals fail prematurely. Only time will tell.
Most guys are actually running low PSI for stock internals. There are already upgraded internals available. I believe Darton has already created a sleeve and there are available pistons and rods.

"only time will tell" is too true, that's why I'm waiting on this, or any, turbo kit for awhile. ....despite how bad i want one.

You can just get a turbo kit and run it at low boost for now.

When you have money for internals just redo the engine and run higher boost.

I'd really love this kit. Same worries as eveeryone else. ESPECIALLY the installers. I'm in Ga. and would love some help on finding a reputable, trustworthy shop to take mine to for the install when the time and money are right.

Thanks to any that put in their .02

FR-S performance increases of 403 HP and 307 Tq for the P&L turbo kit ! Sweet ! The complete kit with options comes with a price tag of just under 7K. And how much performance would we get for TRD's supercharger at 26K ? What is Mr. Toyobaru thinking?! Me thinks his cheese has slid off his cracker ! LOL !!!

Look for shops that work on Subarus for turbo work. They will have the experience required to install the turbo kit in your FR-S.

I'm not certain a plus 400 HP car is for me especially with my lead foot, but I can understand why someone would love a car like that.

Remember that song: " I Fought the Law and The Law Won." Hmmm... Let me tell you a story about a seventeen year old enthusiast who had a 62 Chevy with a 327 engine, duel Holly quads, 350 cam with solid lifters, duel exhaust, Hurst shifter and rear racing slicks on a 4/11 rear. That monster approached 400 HP and it just ain't worth it. The time and expense it took to maintain the car was crazy hard and in the end: " I Fought the Law and The Law Won !" I'll say it again... I fought The Law and The Law Won ! Never will I do that again !!!

As far as the FR-S is concerned ? I say; increase horsepower to 275 with 250 torque, put on better summer tires and wheels and improve overall performance and dependability. Keep the value of the car high and keep the price low ! Are you listening Mr.Toyobaru ? If you build it...They will come.
