supercharger vs turbocharged fr-s ?
GOGO lol
I prefer supercharger anyday. More reliable. Easier to install and maintain. And better response. Top end might not be as high but I don't think the FR-S/FT86 is going to be a nurb track monster. More like a tsukuba/suzuka monster.
Hopefully the block is strong enough to hold good amounts of boost. We know the engines design can hold up. Lets hope Toyota used good materials when making the FR-S FT86 engine.
turbo lag does suck.. but if subaru owners can bear it along with all the other turbo cars i'm sure if we went along and did it we wouldn't mind either![]()
<< Subaru Impreza WRX STi owner and yes the turbo lag can get some getting used to but once your used to it.. very much worth the power gain my turbo lag is especially worse seeing how I installed a larger aftermarket turbo but hey it gave me an extra 150HP so I'm not complaning one bit
all depends what you want out of your car. A turbocharge will give you better top end gains but a supercharge will give you equal gains throughout the powerband.
Knowing the STi as an AWD car and with this = fast acceleration, turbo is ideal.
Usually I go with turbo but I might consider a supercharger. First I want to wait for someone to do a supercharger or turbocharger setup to see how effective it is and how they like it before I do mine.
small turbochargers will spool up quickly and offer you enough torque low end and maintain decent power top end. There are newer turbochargers such a the Garret GTx series and the Borg Warner turbos that spool significantly quicker then the older turbos. Turbochargers are starting to become a more effective and efficient way to produce more power out of smaller displacement motors.
