Smile scion fr-s/toyota gt86 supercharger in production!!!!!!!!

"It doesn’t appear that Toyota’s willing to just sit around and play second fiddle to Subaru‘s BRZ with Chief Engineer Tetsuo Tada telling the media that supercharged test cars have already been made and are currently being scrutinized by Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
In the past, TRD has been known to develop superchargers for various Toyota models, including Scion‘s
    tCcoupe
. With the FR-S inevitably taking over as Scion’s top-of-the-line sports coupe, seeing a TRD variant equipped with a supercharger would be no surprise. Toyota prefers the supercharger approach since it’s simpler than increasing the engine size, and altering throttle response with a turbocharger would compromise the car’s performance objections.
What will be really exciting is if TRD takes on the GT 86 from bumper to bumper, offering styling accessories and even suspension components to go along with a supercharger option. Hopefully all of this goodness will make its way to America and onto our FR-S."

    hello scion fr-s fans,
FreakinReally-Sweet here and i want to know your opinion on the matter of SC over turbo for the fr-s. i personally would love to see a SC com out from TRD just because i dont want to void my warranty but how do u think it will compare to the Brz? also do you think that we (americans) would even get it over here? please let me know your opinion and knowledge on the subject. thanks.

Warranty is big for me to... knowing for sure now that it is a supercharger going into the fr-s I may be going after the brz as subaru has confirmed that they will have a turbo version(FA20 maby300hp) Subaru confirms turbocharged version of BRZ engine - Top Speed Other things that are making me lean towards the brz it the push button start as seen at the Montreal auto show and the availability of getting the car in "pearl white"<------favorite color
I was really excited to be owning a scion as I've had my eye on it for a long time.....so we will have to see this summer

I would love to see a supercharged Scion FR-S/Toyota 86 with the weight distribution, suspension, etc all in check from the factory a supercharger would be great as one of the first mod's. We should get it here in the USA, as we will be one of the biggest markets for the car, it just makes sense.

How soon should we expect to see the supercharged version?

The turbo charged version will spank the supercharged version im sorry that just how it is, we'll get power on the fly with the qucik responsive ness of the super charger but the turbo will have more power period.

ive owned a turbo charged 2010 vw gti and i liked it but it sucked my gas up up all the time. i would like to see how a surpercharger is for this car since ive never owned one. they say they can get 50-60 hp gain from one and the power to weight ratio is the same as a 325 nissan 370z. i am also hoping that later we can get some good comparisons between the SC scion frs and subies turbo brz.

I owned a supercharged cobaltss (around 6psi) had tons of fun with it but was always getting spanked by turbo cars so i bought an srt4 (15-20psi). The turbo definitely sucks up alot more fuel currently sitting at 280km/33L. As for the overall I prefer the turbo, the look of a front mount intercooler and of coarse the blow off valve.
Im sure the brz will have the traditional top mount intercooler so will just have to wait and see....only months away form the test drives!

it really depends on alot of things, throttle response will be better on the sc, but top end will be better on the turbo, but this isnt a car built for drag racing, power way up high is not what im looking for, but we will have to see whats available when we option it out, I'm gonna take it as far as i can with TRD performance goodies as they will let me

I wont believe anything until I see it being made!

It would make sense for Toyota to have a TRD supercharger and for the BRZ to come out with a STi turbo model.

For city driving, superchargers are usually more fun, and more efficient. They don't usually kick in unless you mash the throttle. The good thing about that is in the city for regular driving the car behaves and sips gas just like OEM.

Deff super chargers have great low end and mid range response not that best top end.

but turbo cars can be tuning for power right till the top end! esp on high hp highway pulls turbo cars are deadly!

After having the Scion tC Supercharger ... I'm not so sure I would follow suit with my FR-S. I think I would rather explore other options for improving the cars performance. I would start with suspension, then work my around to I/H/E and transmission improvements. To be honest I think that the first upgrade for me will be wheels and rubber.

There will be a supercharger for this. TRD always make superchargers for almost all their cars. Heck theres even a TRD supercharger available for the corolla.

Even so if there is a super charger there wont be any huge gains maybe i suspect a 50-80 HP gain at most!

100hp gain i dont think soo high boost wont be possiable on this car with out engine mod. it has a 12.5-1 compression ratio. so knock is going to be a issue more than 6 lb of boost = problems

80hp is almost a 50% gain for the fr-s. it doesnt sound like much on paper but if you know anything about cars you know power to weight ratio plays a lot into how fast a car goes and since the fr-s is pretty light an 80hp gain will make it faster than an evo x and 2011 wrx sti.

if youre all about hp gains just get a twin turbo supra. superchargers are better, more practical, cost less, more reliable. only time you should really go turbo over supercharger is if youre planning on doing a big hp drag setup.
