Lightbulb Spoon Mooncraft style hardtop on a FR-S convertible

If we get the FR-S convertible, having an aftermarket hardtop styled like the Spoon Sports Mooncraft hardtop should look really nice and give the FR-S design more of an aggressive appearance.

TRD should take this idea into serious consideration if they haven't already.

    Discuss...

Hmm that roof looks super sporty. does it automatically retract? or do you have to take it off with your hands like some of the super cars? (never seen or heard of this type of roof)

I haven't seen these being mounted or removed but from the looks of it, it bolts down. I highly doubt any aftermarket parts maker will create a retractable roof system for a car, that's an easy $10 000 with quality parts and labor.

Good idea though, probably better left for the Lexus division, then again you have to consider fuel efficiency since a system like that add's a lot of weight.

    Gotta pay to play!

Spoon would only be able to make a hardtop for a non hard top vehicle. The Scion FR-S Toyota FT86 is already a hardtop. You would have to chop off the top to install the Spoon hardtop. Maybe if Lexus or Toyota came out with a convertible version of the vehicle then Spoon or TRD could consider making a hard top style for that car. But if you wanted a hard top why not buy the car that is already a hardtop.

lol, Spoon makes parts for Honda. I never ever seen them make parts for anything other than Honda.

I just like the S2000 Spoon hardtop and thought a hardtop styled like the Spoon hardtop for a POSSIBLE Fr-S convertible would be pretty slick.

Yea if i wanted a hardtop I can buy a hardtop car, but IF WE GET the FR-S convertible, as most convertibles it will have a fabric soft top, have the option between the soft top and hardtop is a nice. I know it will be in demand if a convertible version is released.

spoon makes things for other cars too! rigid collar design, to re-alligen your chassis and make it more stiff!

I doubt the FR-S will come in a vert style as it may just ruin it i say keep it as is for now

most if not all what they deal with are Honda's, never have I seen a Benz or BMW with spoon parts on them.

even spoon sports website just has stuff for honda's, i don't see anything "universal" other than wheels on the website.

If Toyota will make a convertible of this it will be a hardtop convertible for sure. Mark my words, they will never make a softtop convertible for this car as it will ruin the lines and rigidness of the car.

It should be a hard top convertible, even with that spoon top its just a hard top though i do wish honda made a hard top convertible but then again i don't mind the soft top!

SO why would you want to drop that bathtub dome on it, you would have $30k into it by the time you did the labor. This is not some DIY job either. If you are going into that price range, you have the wrong platform IMO.

A soft-top Scion FR-S is a major no-no. That's something left for the Lexus division.

Doing a DIY takes a lot of work and knowledge. Making it look good and be functional will be hard and require quite a bit of resources.

I say just wait for the option to become available, if not, so be it.

The mooncraft hardtop for the S2000 is removable. I saw one at a show one time. A few other roadsters other there have fastback hard tops like miatas. I think flying miata makes one
