It all depends on what car you are talking about and what the original hood is made out of. If your talking about replacing the factory aluminum hood on a G37s with a carbon fiber hood, then your wasting your time. If your talking about replacing the hood on a Saturn Sky Redline, then you have some major weight savings. I checked on doing this to mine before I sold it and it shaved off almost 75lbs. The hood on the sky was clamshell and included the upper portion of the fenders.
I think the hood on this vehicle may save you about 15-20 lbs, but not if it's already aluminum. If you can save 100lbs on any car, it make a big difference in every category. Can mess up your weight distribution though...

That is the same reasoning that I have.

The carbon fiber on the concept was just perfect. I like the way that looks

For a car that will most likely be a daily driver for me, carbon fiber on the exterior isn't the greatest idea. I don't want to be driving along and worrying about stone chips, or scraping bumpers/rear diffusers and such. On the interior - that's a completely different story. I think the carbon fiber accents on the interior would be great - especially if you could have the CF tinted to match the exterior colour of your car (i.e. blue car = blue carbon fibre). That said, accents are where its at - you don't want too much where it's overdone... moderation

Yeah, it actually looks really good if not overdone.

Whenever anyone ever puts CF on a car, it's done terribly, even when it's proper the first word that comes to mind is Rice. And I'd rather not rice a nice car. Leaving the car completely stock on the outside is ALWAYS the best option, Always.

Im pretty sure there will be CF parts for this car all over the market once its out. The market that it is aimed at will CF the crap out of the whole car. I dont think its a bad thing as long as its done right.

No question about that. FR-S WILL have carbon fiber parts.
The FR-S/FT-86/216a should be the next car to have an amazing aftermarket support.

Expect Seibon to be the first or one of the first to come out with FR-S carbon fiber parts.

I can already imagine how crazy people are going to get with this car...

Gut interior. CF the entire car. Full roll cage. Track setup suspension and chassis reinforcement. Lightweight forged alloy rims wrapped in thick R comp tires. GT35R this b!!!tch.

I really like the rear diffuser on the concept. I am sure a aftermarket manaufacturer will make a CF diffuser in no time. Everyone has seen the diffuser on the concept. When it comes out and it doesn't have the diffuser everyone is going to be looking for one. I think you would have to make a new rear bumper though. Since the diffuser seems to be part of the rear bumper. A CF diffuser with fiberglass bumper is what is most likely going to happen. ViS racing has done this for a few other cars in the past.
