This article makes refrence to Toyota drawing the paint color choice from nature.

“Sports cars have to be red, but we wanted a new red,” said Tetsuya Tada, the chief engineer. “So we came up with shoujyouhi red, the traditional red color of a Japanese monkey’s backside.”

I wonder if this could actually be real?

i dont know if its true but given how strange some japanese people think. i wouldnt be surprised. its funny if its true though. imagine when the designer was trying to explain the color to his boss. hahaha.

I donno, the japanese are a funny culture. Well more just much more different then North America and there might be somthing special there about a monkey's butt.

Here in the States the only place to see a monkey is in the zoo. In japan there are parts of the country where monkeys run free and I suspect because monkeys are much more a part of their culture than ours, it probably is true.

In the US its pretty easy to see persons bottom if you live near the coast. I wonder if there is a bronzed tan special edition color coming soon?

The only green I've ever liked was the Forest Green I had on a Triumph TR7 I once owned. I'm still surprised to this day I got that color, but when considering the colors for that vehicle it was ultimately the best one.
